Welcome

Please Submit Nubian Entries

How cool is this, it's time for the Nubian entries!

Please refer to the AGS "Show Rules" go down to letter F., #8. for the age classes. You may enter one goat per age class.

The following pictures angles are requested from the Nubian Judge:

"The angles need to be front, left side, right side, behind, and a clear udder shot (assuming the doe has one). If the goat can be set up it would be helpful but not required. The goat needs to be straight from nose to tail though, no contorted poses.

Chelsea, Nubian Judge"

Please note, it's only two weeks this time to submit entries.

The submission deadline is August 23, 2010 at 11:59 pm EDT.

You Can Be A Judge Too

Denise, our Pygmy Judge, thought it would be fun for you to "judge" the Pygmy entries too, and what a wonderful learning opportunity. So, if you would like to give your opinions based on your own experience as a long time goat owner, raiser, or breeder, or if you're a newbie just trying to get a better understanding of the standards and how you see them on a goat, then let's hear from you. You may comment directly on this post or send your comments to onlinegoatshow00@yahoo.com. You may remain anonymous, if you would like. It'll be interesting to see how many comments have the same observations, and how they differ. After Denise has judged the entries, I will post the comments. You can be a judge too-let's hear from you!

Announcing The Pygmy Entries

I received three Pygmy entries for the show and they were entered by one person. I am going to follow the AGS "Show Rules" letter "F. ARRANGEMENT OF CLASSES AND MAKING OF AWARDS" states at "12. In classes where there is no competition, placement shall be made by the judge according to the merit of the animal. A judge may withhold placement in any class in which no animal meets the requirements." I have asked the Judge, Denise, to go ahead and make placings according to this rule.

So without further ado, the Pygmy entries are in the slideshow at the top of the site. Each set of pictures start with the information about the entry. You may also see the pictures at photobucket please enter the Username: Online-Goat-Show and enter the Password: goatsrule.

The Pygmy Goat

I thought it might be fun to learn about the pygmy goat. Please click on this link
"NPGA Breed Standard" to let the learning begin. Of course, we also need a personal perspective about the pygmy goat, from a breeder. So, Tara provided this photo and writing.

Doeling's name: Tara's Rowdy Kids Sparklin' Topaz
Bred by: Tara Winters of Tara's Rowdy Kids
Now Owned by: Ellie Rife

"I absolutely love my Pygmy Goats, they are by far my favorite breed of goat. My favorite characteristic about them is by far their appearance! I love how small and compact they are. One of my favorite features I look for when choosing a good Pygmy is their head and chest. It's extremely hard to find good chests and heads on Pygmies. I just love the chests on Pygmies. It just shows how awesomely wide and deep they can be. And their faces are so expressional. Not only do they need nice wide heads and jaws, but it just seems to me that their faces can tell you exactly what they are thinking.

I have owned Pygmies for 5 years now...But I have not only had Pygmies but I have had experience with a few other breeds and I wouldn't trade my Pygmies for anything. They are part of my past, present, and most definitely my future.

Pygmy Goats are like potato chips...You can't have just one!"

Please Submit Pygmy Entries

That's right, that's right the Pygmy goat will open the show!

Please refer to the AGS "Show Rules" go down to letter F., #8. for the age classes. You may enter one goat per age class.

The following is a statement from the Judge for what she would like for pictures:

"1 each front, side, and rear and you can set your animal up.

THEN: One side view with the goat NOT set up. Walk it forward a couple of steps, stop it, and loosen the lead so it's fairly slack.

THEN: One rear view done the same way.

It's very hard to judge a picture of an animal; I really like to judge them on the move. The only way I can sort of see how would they travel naturally is to let them walk and then stack themselves.

Denise, Pygmy Judge"

The submission deadline is July 19, 2010 at 11:59 pm EDT.

Show Details

Let me start with this very important detail for the show; do not submit your entry/entries for the show, until an announcement has been made requesting your breed class. We will not be taking all breed classes at once. Participants of the show will be submitting their entries/pictures and picture information via email and then they will be displayed on photobucket. This emphasizes the importance of following the Picture Rules (see below) and including all information that is requested for the pictures. The information you submit about your picture will be copied and pasted for the description, so please provide correctly spelled information. The entries received will not be displayed alphabetically, they will be displayed in the order they are received.

Opening Statement

Welcome to Goat For It Extravaganza. First time show entrants, experienced show pros, and visitors, we are glad you are joining us for the excitement that will unfold in the coming months. It is our goal to provide an arena for those who do not have shows in their area, and for those who would like to gain some experience in a less intimidating environment than the actual show ring. However, we also want to learn from the pros, so that’s why this show includes all levels of show experience. After all, if new participants get the show bug and they decide to attend the live shows, the pros may be some of the people they stand next to in the ring.

One of my objectives is for this show to run as smoothly as possible. This is where your part comes in, should you decide to participate. Please read all the rules first, so you can make an informed decision, if this is the right show for you. It is implied that if you submit an entry, that you have read all rules, and you agree to them. Also, please be sure to read all announcements carefully, they will contain important information and will ensure you are entering at the correct time and meeting any submission deadlines.

I personally ask for your patience as the show begins. This show will evolve over the course of months, as the number of entries for different breeds and divisions fluctuates, as the search for judges continues, and as any bugs are worked out as they may arise.

Finally, and foremost, I want to provide a fun and friendly environment for you to come to. Your questions and comments are always welcome. I will do my best to answer and respond in a timely manner.

Thank you
