Welcome

You Can Be A Judge Too

Denise, our Pygmy Judge, thought it would be fun for you to "judge" the Pygmy entries too, and what a wonderful learning opportunity. So, if you would like to give your opinions based on your own experience as a long time goat owner, raiser, or breeder, or if you're a newbie just trying to get a better understanding of the standards and how you see them on a goat, then let's hear from you. You may comment directly on this post or send your comments to onlinegoatshow00@yahoo.com. You may remain anonymous, if you would like. It'll be interesting to see how many comments have the same observations, and how they differ. After Denise has judged the entries, I will post the comments. You can be a judge too-let's hear from you!

Announcing The Pygmy Entries

I received three Pygmy entries for the show and they were entered by one person. I am going to follow the AGS "Show Rules" letter "F. ARRANGEMENT OF CLASSES AND MAKING OF AWARDS" states at "12. In classes where there is no competition, placement shall be made by the judge according to the merit of the animal. A judge may withhold placement in any class in which no animal meets the requirements." I have asked the Judge, Denise, to go ahead and make placings according to this rule.

So without further ado, the Pygmy entries are in the slideshow at the top of the site. Each set of pictures start with the information about the entry. You may also see the pictures at photobucket please enter the Username: Online-Goat-Show and enter the Password: goatsrule.

The Pygmy Goat

I thought it might be fun to learn about the pygmy goat. Please click on this link
"NPGA Breed Standard" to let the learning begin. Of course, we also need a personal perspective about the pygmy goat, from a breeder. So, Tara provided this photo and writing.

"I absolutely love my Pygmy Goats, they are by far my favorite breed of goat. My favorite characteristic about them is by far their appearance! I love how small and compact they are. One of my favorite features I look for when choosing a good Pygmy is their head and chest. It's extremely hard to find good chests and heads on Pygmies. I just love the chests on Pygmies. It just shows how awesomely wide and deep they can be. And their faces are so expressional. Not only do they need nice wide heads and jaws, but it just seems to me that their faces can tell you exactly what they are thinking.

I have owned Pygmies for 5 years now...But I have not only had Pygmies but I have had experience with a few other breeds and I wouldn't trade my Pygmies for anything. They are part of my past, present, and most definitely my future.

Pygmy Goats are like potato chips...You can't have just one!"
